“And the music of its crying, never dead, ever dying,
Sent me running in a madness I can scarce compare to fear,
Not to safety, but to silence - unto my own unmaking.
And yet now, upon awaking, once again the song I hear.”
‘Far Beyond the Place of Stopping’, R. J. Willamson
When a traveller in southern Kallavesa takes the wrong fork at Talstone, on the winding Pilgrim’s Trail past Wittal, they come upon the curious valley of Kevät. A lonely country of damp earth and dark woods, long ago stolen from encroaching swamp. Sitting beneath sallow sky where the seasons bear down like a magistrate’s sentence.
The homesteads and scattered halls, that lean and creak within the wind, live and die by the strange and perilous work of the Keepers of Blodmoþþalh. The Hall of the Blood Moth, as it is otherwise known, is famed for harvesting from the eponymous creatures all manner of bountiful by-products that aid in the growing of food, the tending of herbs, and even the casting of magic.
This Autumn season however, as the swarms of blood-moths stir from their dormancy, the careful operations of Blodmoþþalh are faced with ruin. Fell fortunes have struck the community of moth-keepers, members of the Hall have gone missing, and unfriendly eyes are rumoured to watch from the surrounding woods. The Keepers call for aid from Wintermark and beyond, imploring the knowledgeable, the Virtuous and the strong to avert a disaster that looms over the folk of Kevät and threatens to bring down the Hall of the Blood Moth.

The event is fully catered, including dinner Friday evening, breakfast, lunch and dinner on Saturday and breakfast Sunday morning.
Hall of the Blood Moth is a game in the Empire LRP setting focused on exploration, problem solving and peril within a tone inspired by cinematic and literary horror. Our intention is not really to scare, but by evoking repulsion, disgust, unease and fear to provide players the thrills that are found in an engaging ‘scary story’.
As such prominent themes for the game will include: Psychological stress, crisis management, death, moths, magic, decay, corruption, moths, medical pathology, moths, moths, and some of the weirder elements of the Wintermark national brief (don’t sign up if you’re phobic of moths). There will be dedicated space set aside in case of any instances where any or all of these themes provoke Out of Character distress.
Physical threat will also be an element of the game, and while combat will be restricted at certain times and in specific spaces it is best to consider the entirety of the play area a “Combat Possible” space, as per Profound Decisions guidelines. There will also be opportunities for Player Characters to use Magical, Religious and Healing skills
Although the game is set in the territory of Kallavesa, in Wintermark, we welcome interest from Player Characters from any nation. We think the game would be especially relevant for those interested in:
Magic, especially Winter Magic/Spring Magic. and its effects on the land for both good and ill.
Healing and herblore
Problem solving
Unusual creatures
Wintermark culture
Opposing the sinister forces lurking in the dark corners of the Empire.
The Birks, located in south-central Cumbria, is a converted forestry lodge with recently refurbished basic beds and amenities. It includes some rough stone flooring and a few low wooden beams. Full accessibility and safety guidance will be forthcoming but importantly:
Toilets and showers are on the ground floor.
The site grounds are inaccessible for those who would find it difficult to walk more than a half-mile either up or down a gentle hill.
There is one bedroom on the ground floor. All others are upstairs.
Due to the rural nature of the venue we will be happy to help coordinate between attendees who need help traveling to/from the site and those able to take passengers. The nearest railway station is Foxfield, roughly 9 miles from site. Oxhenholme is 28 miles from site. There will be the opportunity for a staged Time-In on Friday evening for those needing to travel later in the day. There will be no Time-In on Sunday to allow for a quick departure after breakfast and pack up.
The Birks has WiFi, as well as a landline phone, but you should expect there to be no phone signal.
The event is fully catered and we are able to accommodate for most dietary requirements. Please get in touch if you would like to discuss any specific requirements and accommodations.
We will not be offering tickets to players under the age of 16.
