Hello Players!
Here is some final logistical information to help you pack and prepare.
Please read the travel guidance on the website. Seriously. Going the wrong way will ruin your car and possibly your whole weekend/month/year.
All players who need lifts should now be matched up with a lift buddy. If anybody still doesn’t know how they are getting to this event, please let us know as a matter of urgency.
Rebecca Moody is attending as our event photographer. If you don't want your picture taken/published, let us know, or speak to us when you arrive.
Time in is at 5pm on Friday
We did this to both maximise game time, and so you wouldn’t have to drive to the ass-crack of Cumbria in the pitch dark. You’ll understand when you see the road.
You can arrive really early on Friday if you want
Refs and some crew will be on site from about 9am. If you arrive super early, you may see us set dressing, food prepping and duct taping props together. We trust you not to be weird about it. You are welcome to go chill out in a bedroom, spend hours getting your lineage makeup just right, or dump your bags and go have lunch in the local pub or whatever.
If you arrive mega early, we won’t be feeding you until the evening meal, bring something to eat that doesn’t need cooking, or make lunch plans elsewhere.
Ideally, aim to be present and kitted up on Friday for 4:00pm at the latest.
If this is going to be a problem tell us right now and we’ll figure it out.
Time-in is at 8am. Please make an effort to be in at least minimum viable kit and whatever lineage stuff you need before you come down for breakfast - there will be stuff to interact with IC first thing in the morning.
Saturday encounters will end at 11pm. There is no hard time-out, you are free to stay up and roleplay until you fancy going to bed. Once you go to bed, the event has finished and you can consider yourselves timed-out.
There is no time-in on Sunday.
There will be a cooked breakfast for all players and crew.
We need to have vacated the site by noon. Help with packing, cleaning and eating any leftovers will be appreciated.
This isn’t a dry event but we strongly discourage getting drunk during time-in.
Due to the remote location of the event, we can’t easily ask you to leave the event if you become unsafe, so just don’t.
Two-handed weapons are, in our opinion, not safe to fight with in this terrain, it’s too boggy/woodsy/hilly. Please bring your shorter weapons instead.
If you don’t have a 1h weapon we might be able to lend you one, please ask
Ritual staves should be fine but we will be controlling for risk where needed
Big shields are more likely to trip you up and get in the way than provide much protection on some encounters. If you’ve got a smaller one, bring it too, or instead of.
The site has been known to have ticks, although it's not peak season for them, but wear long trousers or leggings please.
Armor, if you wear it - expect combat/threat.
Weapons
Sleeping bag or duvet+single sheet, and pillow
Indoor shoes
IC lightsources (battery powered) - as many as you’ve got
OC lightsources, if your IC ones are naff - being able to see stuff is more important than immersion in the darkness we are expecting
Earplugs and eyemask if you tend to need those
As many IC resources as you care to bring - there will be opportunities to earn back used resources
Stuff to wear. Long skirts and trains are not advised due to the narrow path/mud/bog/bramble situation, which you will experience even if you are not participating in combat
Spare socks - I know it’s a meme, but seriously
Waterproof shoes and/or wellies. Please leave the beautiful historical footwear at home, this place will destroy it
Any meds you need
Phone charger
If you can’t survive without energy drinks please bring your own
Towel and wash stuff for a shower
An (empty) IC bag, canvas tote or whatever
Long trousers/leggings. The site has been known to have ticks, although they're unlikely to be about this time of year.
If you have a musical instrument that’s portable enough, consider bringing it…
Things that need refrigeration (other than meds)
Candles, incense, things to set on fire.
Two-hander weapons
Tents - you’ve all got indoor sleeping space on beds
